August: Finishing up the summer fun for 2010 Children’s Ministry invites you to join our staff for a night at the ballpark with us at QuickTrip Park in Grand Prairie as the Air Hogs take the field. September: Back to school time!!! Also time to start collecting quarters for Water Is Basic! Last year the children of IBC collected enough quarters to cover the cost of having a well drilled to provide fresh water to people in Sudan! What an exciting way to help people half way across the world. As your child helps around the house or reaches goals this month, help them collect quarters for this great cause. Quarter tubes will be passed out on Sundays to help them keep up with their donation.
October: The Water Is Basic mission focus will culminate with the WIB 5K on October 9th. More information can be found at waterisbasic.org.
Missions - Children’s Ministry focuses on four different mission projects each year. Some projects are local, some are national and some are even international in scope.
Past projects have included a book fair for Townsell Elementary in Irving where each child attending that school received their very own book. Water Is Basic Quarter Mile where enough money was raised to drill a well in Sudan. This summer we will be partnering with Tapestry and Synergy collecting flip-flops focusing on adoption care. Part of the Journey is about “joining the mission” and we can’t think of a better place than the Children’s Ministry to begin that journey.
