Four times a year, the IBC staff gathers to honor the amazing volunteers who serve, lead, and shepherd the body of IBC along the journey. It’s a chance to recognize those who have invested their time and energy for ministry, and to fill them in on the focus and dreams of IBC moving ahead. We call this The Summit.
But January 28 will be unique because The Summit will combine with the IBC Annual Meeting, a time when elders present the nuts and bolts of the operating budget and share current issues facing the leadership. You do not need to be an IBC member to attend. But you will need to be a member to vote in the elder election.
So if you’re a current IBC volunteer, or just someone interested in what’s happen- ing at IBC in 2012, we invite you to join us. It will be a can’t-miss gathering!
Saturday, January 28
in The Worship Center at IBC
9–11 a.m.
A light breakfast and coffee will be provided. We invite you to join us at 8:30 a.m.in the Town Square to munch and mingle.
John J. Girgis
I was born and grew up in Cairo Egypt, and was raised by godly parents. The scriptures were part of our everyday experience, and we had devotions as a family every night. I heard and believed the gospel as a child and made a public profession of faith and was baptized as a young teen.
Our family immigrated to the US when I was a freshman in high school. We made the Chicago area home. I studied Chemistry and Geology at the University of Illinois - Chicago, Geophysics at Colorado School of Mines, and received an executive MBA from Wharton School of business in later years.
I met my wife Rhonda in Denver at a Francis Schaffer conference. We were married in 1982. We have two children: Ashley Girgis Melson who was married a few years ago and is now living in Oklahoma City, and Timothy who is a senior at OU. I am enjoying a fulfilling career in the oil and gas industry. We have lived in seven different locations. After a 26 year career working for two major oil companies in technical and leadership positions, I founded GeoPetra Resources in 2004.
I have served as a deacon in Littleton Bible Chapel, Amarillo Evangelical Fellowship, Midland Bible Church and Lake Pointe Baptist Church in Rockwall. I also served as an elder in Jakarta International Christian Fellowship, where we were one of the four founding families, and WoodsEdge Community Church in the Woodlands, TX.
Our family first came to IBC in 1997. I had the privilege of heading up the first NJO initiative in 1998. We moved to Houston in December 1999 returning to the Dallas area April 2003. We chose to move to Hackberry Creek for its proximity to IBC. Rhonda and I have been involved in international missions and the prayer ministry at IBC since that time.

I prayed to accept Christ as my savior in 1975 and it has been a blessing to walk with Him through life. Barb and I have been married for 38 years and serve together in Marriage at IBC. We began coming to IBC the Sunday before we moved into the new building. Since then I have serve in several ministries and six years on the elder board. My church leadership and service background included Plymouth Brethren, Baptist, Christian Church and Roman Catholic. Barb and I are active members of Bible Study Fellowship.
After a 30-year career in the executive relocation business, I now serve the Lord full time with the Pocket Testament League. The League motivates and equips Christians to read Gods Word daily and to share it with others in fulfillment of the Great Commission. The Gospel transforms lives for those who read it and believe it.
We have two adult daughters. Becky is married to Dow Rasdall and they have provided us with three wonderful grandchildren. The family is active in serving at Lakeland Baptist in Lewisville. Lexi is single and serves the Lord in Kenya with Camp BlueSky Ministries.
Because Kidzone will be outsourced, we ask that you please register at least a week prior to this event. Due to limited space, please consider alternative arrangements for your children if possible.
