Recovery at IBC

Recovery at IBC

At Recovery at IBC, we're real people learning how to apply the 12 steps as a powerful model in our lives for alleviating emotional pain, stress, and control and for seeking practical spiritual development in Christ.

Most people associate "Recovery" with alcoholics, drug addicts or porn addicts...they are right! There's more though...If you believe that we live in a fallen world and that we are "born of sin," then Recovery at IBC is for you. Perfectionism, pride, overeating, shopping, anger, control, workaholism, depression, anxiety, pleasing others at the expense of ourselves...these are all ways that we "cope" with our own pain, fears and denial. At Recovery at IBC, we're real people learning how to apply the 12 steps as a powerful model in our lives for alleviating emotional pain, stress, and control and for seeking practical spiritual development in Christ.

While Recovery at IBC is a Christ centered 12 Step program (Read through the 12 Steps), being a follower of Christ is not a requirement for attendance or participation. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome to attend! Join us 52 weeks a year for worship, teaching on the 12 Steps, personal recovery testimonies, and small group discussion.

What a few people had to say about Recovery:

"I always thought recovery was just for drug addicts or alcoholics. It was great to find others who struggle with other things in life who understood me."

"I wasn't sure if recovery was really a safe place to let go of secrets that had kept me so sick, so I gave a fake name for the first few times. I now know that we are serious when we say, "Whom you see here, what you hear here, when you leave here, let it stay here."

Large Group Worship

Testimonies and Teachings: 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

What Recovery is, and what it isn't.

Things We Are:

  • A safe place to share.

  • A refuge.

  • A place of belonging.

  • A place to care for others and be cared for.

  • Where respect is given to each member.

  • Where confidentiality is highly regarded.

  • A place to learn.

  • A place to demonstrate genuine love.

  • A place to grow and become strong again.

Things We Are NOT:

  • A place for selfish control.

  • Therapy.

  • A place for secrets.

  • A place to look for dating relationships.

  • A place to rescue or be rescued by others.

  • A place for perfection.
