A great many Tapestry families - as well as many other adoptive and foster families across the U.S. and literally around the world - have found the insights, guidance and practical tools of Dr. Karyn Purvis to be nothing short of revolutionary in helping them better love and care for their children. Her ground-breaking research and her passionate desire to help families become healers for their children have resulted in her trust-based relational parenting model being embraced by families as well as many local church adoption and foster care ministries.
Dr. Purvis has spoken at Tapestry events numerous times, most recently at the 2007, 2008 and 2009 Tapestry Adoption & Foster Care Conferences.
In the future we will add more information and helpful links to this site relating to Dr. Purvis' work, but for now here are just a few helpful links and resources to get you started:

Empowered to Connect is a great resource that provides adoptive and foster parents with the practical tools they need to forge meaningful and lasting connections with their children. As such, it is also a great tool for church ministry leaders that can help them more effectively meet the holistic needs of the families they serve.
Empowered to Connect is a collaborative effort among Michael & Amy Monroe (who lead Tapestry) and Dr. Karyn Purvis. Empowered to Connect has created an online library of articles, audio and video presentations covering a variety of relevant topics. In addition, they are developing a study guide that will be available later in 2009. Great for individual use or small group discussions, this study guide will highlight and examine many of the Biblical principles that serve as the foundation for the approach and interventions taught by Dr. Purvis in her book The Connected Child.
Listen to Michael Monroe and Dr. Karyn Purvis share about the heart of Empowered to Connect, an initiative designed to provide practical tools and resources to adoptive and foster families.
