Irving Bible Church

Overview

Approximately once each quarter, IBC gives parents the opportunity to have their babies dedicated to the Lord. Opportunities are provided in each of the three services and are based on Biblical principle of giving the parents the responsibility to teach and model how to love and follow Christ.

Prior to Baby Dedications, we have an orientation for all new parents at IBC.

The next baby dedications are scheduled for Sunday, May 13. Online registration begins April 10. Baby dedication orientation is May 6.

What a Baby Dedication is NOT:

  • Baptism
  • A guarantee that your children will never have problems.
  • A rite that gives a child a special standing before God.

What a Baby Dedication IS:

  • A chance for parents to publicly commit to raise their child in a way that honors God.
  • An opportunity to seek support from IBC as a whole, to raise their children in the faith.
  • A time for parents to draw together in making that commitment.

Baby Dedication Orientation:
We strongly encourage all parents to attend this class. Times and dates are available when Baby Dedication registration begins. There are several aspects that are valuable to you as you seek to dedicate your child:

  • You find out the details of what goes on that actual dedication day.
  • You get to hear from Melody Parlett, our Nursery director, about the Comfort Zone and all that is available to your child, when you are ready to leave him/her.
  • You get to hear from our Early Childhood Shepherd about the curriculum we use and the strategies we use to partner with you as you invest in your child spiritually.
  • Gary Lindsay, our Children’s Pastor, talks to you about his perspective and experience and resources available to help you in raising your child to honor God.

It is always special during a worship service when parents dedicate their children to God and commit to raise them in a godly home while the IBC community promises to support their efforts.
