Description:

Learn how to more creatively & effectively teach in a way that actively involves students in the learning, keeps them interested, and maximizes their retention of the key lessons being taught. Develop the skills both to teach in front of a group and to design and develop materials for teaching. Great for seasoned teachers and those desiring to teach for the first time.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this learning experience, participants will be able to:

  1. Make the focus of their teaching what the participant is able to say and do, not what the teacher or material says or does.
  2. Apply principles of adult learning to improve the effectiveness of their teaching
  3. Use proven techniques to design training that increases participant motivation to learn, retention of what they learn, and integration of their learning into their lives.
  4. Effectively facilitate learner involvement and learning in community.
  5. Extend teaching into a ministry beyond the classroom.

What this learning experience is and isn’t:

  • Participative learning, not lecturing
  • Learning together in community, not independently
  • Lots of opportunities to practice, not passive consumption
  • Concentrated on what you will be able to say/do, not what the instructor says/does
