If you are relatively new to IBC, we invite you to attend a Newcomer Gathering which meets every other month on a Wednesday evening. This is an informal get together for adults new to IBC and/or those wanting to learn more about whom we are, what we believe and the numerous ways you can connect with others who share the same interests. You will meet other newcomers, ministry leaders and elders as we learn more about each other and IBC. You will feel a lot more at home at IBC after attending a Gathering!

Regardless of where you are in your spiritual journey, we look forward to meeting you and sharing with you opportunities for exploring, growing and sharing faith in Jesus Christ.

Newcomer Gatherings are held every other month and are typically on a Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:00. Here’s a link to the online registration form.

This gathering is for adults, but childcare for those 10 years old and younger is available. If you would like to have your children cared for please register them using the form below through the ibcLink.

The 2010 Tapestry Conference will be held on Saturday, October 23^rd, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Irving Bible Church.  This conference is a great opportunity to learn from a diverse group of experienced presenters covering a wide variety of adoption and foster care related topics. Every attendee will attend the general session in which Sherrie Eldridge, author of Twenty Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parents Knew, will offer her insight and wisdom.

Get Up and Give–North Texas Giving Day
September 8, 2010– 7am to 7pm

GET UP OUT OF BED, FROM YOUR DESK OR COUCH, GO TO YOUR COMPUTER AND GIVE TO OUR PARTNERS!

What is North Texas Giving Day? A day when nonprofits with an approved profile through DonorBridge are eligible to receive matching funds when donations are made online through DonorBridge.

How do I donate? By going to the website www.donorbridgetx.org. You can find one of our partners profiles that you are interested in.

Do I have to have a login to donate? No, you can make donations without a login and password.  However, we want to encourage donors to sign up for a DonorBridge login, as it will give you access to more information on the nonprofits profiles.

How much can I donate? As much as you want – every donation will receive matching funds!  The only requirement is that a donor must give a minimum of $25 for the funds to be matched.

Who provides the matching funds? Matching funds are provided through the generous contribution and support of many organizations throughout North Texas, including Communities Foundation of Texas, The Meadows Foundation, the Rees-Jones Foundation and The Dallas Foundation.

Does it cost anything to participate? No. DonorBridge is run by Communities Foundation of Texas, with the support of The Dallas Foundation and the Center for Nonprofit Management. None of these organizations receive any money for overseeing and supporting the North Texas Giving Day.

How will I know my gift was received? Gifts and grants made on Giving Day will be processed through the Communities Foundation of Texas. Donors will receive an acknowledgement email, as well as an official gift substantiation/tax receipt. Donations will appear on credit card statements, as being payable to “CFT.” The nonprofit will be notified and given the donor’s contact information, unless the donor has stated that they wish to remain anonymous. If you do not receive an email receipt, please contact CFT directly at Click to email, and we investigate, and provide another copy.

How much will be available in matching funds? Funds are still being provided to the pool of matching money, so the total amount is not available. However, as of July 2010, there is close to $650,000 in matching funds and an additional $50,000 that is set aside for prizes. In 2009, the matching fund amount of $300,000 spurred $4.2 million in giving, setting the single day greatest record, and we are hoping this year’s amount does even more!

Time: 4-6 p.m.
When: Saturday, September 18th
Location: Irving Bible Church back lawn (near the High School area)

We love college students and we know you love free food! Bring your student ID and get a free burger or bratwurst. All drinks and chips are free. Enter the washers tournament and you could go home with a $25 Visa gift card. This event is open to any college student and their friends!

If you’re not a current college student you can still come and get a burger or brat for only $2.00.

Join us for a fun night “Saluting the Heroes” of our community at our next Kids Night Out. Single Parent Ministry will host this fun and free event at IBC from 6-9pm on Saturday September 11th, 2010. Fire and police departments will be in attendance with vehicles for the kids to check out. Help us make a gift basket of goodies to deliver to their stations in appreciation for all they do for us. Bring a small item to add in like gum, snacks, magazines, puzzle books, etc.
