I've also heard this termed femicide. Whatever you want to call it, it's a moral wrong of the highest order and must stop. It's interesting that the Economist thinks female education (and other things to increase gender equality) will eventually cause the boy/girl ratio to balance to normal levels. This may be true, but as a Christian, I believe that we must impress upon China and India that all human life bears the image of God and is therefore sacred. As such, the destruction of innocent life (whether before or after birth) is murder and must not be tolerated. I guess what I'm saying is that my proposed solution to the problem would not just include education, but also evangelization. Convincing China and India that their mores on girls are "old fashioned" is not enough. We need to convince them that these views areunjust and sinful.
