If you're a follower of Jesus, God wants to do a transforming work in and through you. In a Discipleship Cohort, you'll find community that will help you pursue holistic Christlikeness, learning and exploring what it looks like to love God with your heart, soul, strength, and mind.

Cohorts are open to individuals and existing formation groups, and you’re welcome to sign up with a friend or spouse. 2026/2027 registration is open.

"This has been so much more than another Bible study or small group. This discipleship cohort has introduced new spiritual rhythms into my life in a way that has felt approachable and even exciting, thanks to the community with whom I get to take this journey. Learning and growing together has not only provided helpful accountability and motivation, but has also encouraged my faith."

- Alli

"As a new member to IBC in the last year, the Discipleship Cohort has helped to not only introduce me to new people I might not have otherwise met and get to know them on a deep, personal level, but also shown me how to practically deepen my walk with God and challenge me with new ideas and practices. I now have good friends after just a short period of time and have had the chance to interact and learn from IBC’s senior leadership through their in-depth sessions on topics including the Heart, Idolatry and the overall Christian narrative found in scripture."

- Stephen

"It wasn’t until coming to IBC that I learned that there is more to being a Christian than just accepting Jesus as my savior, but there isn’t an obvious, step-by-step guide that tells me exactly what I need to do or who I need to become to be a disciple of Jesus. This cohort is providing me with the opportunity to think critically about how I can grow as a disciple through learning how to love God with all of my heart, mind, soul, and strength in a safe, community-based setting where it’s okay to say that I don’t already know exactly how to love God in all of those ways."

Cohort FAQ's

The Cohort is a 10–month journey of intentional spiritual formation. It’s designed to help you grow in your love for God — with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind — in the context of a safe, Christ-centered community. Through teaching, practices, group conversations, and personal reflection, you’ll explore what it really means to follow Jesus in every area of your life.

Bible studies often focus on knowledge. Small groups are great for connection and community. The Cohort is about formation into holistic Christlikeness — the slow, Spirit-led process of becoming more like Jesus. It brings together three essential elements: knowledge of God, knowledge of self, and life in community. Where those three intersect, deep discipleship occurs.

The Cohort is for anyone at IBC who wants to go deeper in their faith. You just need a willingness to grow, show up, and be open to how God might work in your life.

Yes! You can sign up as an individual, with a friend or spouse, or with an existing group (Formation group, Bible study table, group of longtime friends, etc.).

You’ll meet with your group weekly over 10 months, alternating between IBC and in homes. You’ll also engage with spiritual practices, readings, and a few creative projects. On average, plan to invest 4-5 hours a week total, including meeting times.

Yes! Kids+ is available when groups meet at IBC (not when groups meet independently).
